Terms of Service
Last updated: 6 October 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Tierguard, a hosted service that attributes Xero and QuickBooks Online API usage to the tenants that cause it and alerts you before an overage. By creating an account or sending usage events with an ingest token, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who provides the service
Tierguard is operated by Aliaksandr Palazok ("the Provider"), an individual operating from the Republic of Poland. Contact: support@tierguard.dev. A postal address for legal notices is available on request at support@tierguard.dev.
2. Eligibility
Tierguard is a business service. You must be at least 16 years old and use it on behalf of a business, or in a professional or trade capacity. If you register on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind it to these Terms, and the email address you provide must be one you control.
Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory right that a consumer may have and that cannot be waived.
3. The service
Tierguard receives per-tenant usage metadata that you send from your own instrumentation at your Xero or QuickBooks Online API boundary, attributes it to the tenant that caused it, projects the cost against the quota and overage rate you configure, and raises threshold and (on the Pro plan) usage-spike alerts. Alerts are shown on your dashboard and sent to your alert recipients by email.
- Xero and QuickBooks platforms expose no per-tenant usage API, so the data Tierguard shows is only as complete and accurate as the events you send. Projections and alerts are estimates, not invoices.
- Tierguard is not designed to receive your accounting data, transactions, balances or OAuth tokens, and you must not send them. Usage events are meant to carry only an event identifier, an endpoint, byte and call counters, a tenant reference of your choosing and a timestamp; these fields are free-form text, so what you put in them is your responsibility.
- Tierguard is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Xero or Intuit. Xero, QuickBooks and Intuit are trademarks of their respective owners.
- Email alert recipients are managed by account owners in the project's channel settings. Slack, webhook and PagerDuty channels, where your plan includes them, are added and removed by the Provider on request via support@tierguard.dev; you see them read-only. Delivery is best-effort: each alert is attempted up to 3 times within 24 hours and is then given up.
4. Accounts and tokens
You are responsible for the credentials of your account and for all activity under it, including activity by team members you invite. Ingest tokens are bearer secrets: anyone holding one can submit usage events to the project it belongs to. A token is shown once when you create it and only a hash and a short prefix are stored afterwards, so it cannot be recovered; revoke and replace a token you suspect is exposed. Tell us at support@tierguard.dev if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
5. Subscription, billing and refunds
Tierguard is offered on a Free plan and two paid monthly plans. The limits and prices are:
| Plan | Price | Connections | Usage history | Alert channels |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 / month | 1 | 7 days | |
| Starter | $29 / month | 3 | 90 days | email, slack, webhook |
| Pro | $99 / month | Unlimited | 365 days | email, slack, webhook, pagerduty |
Paid prices are in US dollars and include applicable sales tax or VAT. Of the alert channels, only email recipients are self-service (see section 3).
- Paid subscriptions are for business use and are billed monthly in advance by Stripe, which acts as merchant of record for payments made through Tierguard.
- Your plan follows your subscription status at Stripe. A payment that is past due keeps the paid plan while Stripe retries it. A subscription that is unpaid or paused no longer has the paid plan's features but keeps its paid usage history. After a subscription ends, the paid usage history is kept until 30 days after the end of the last billing period we recorded for your subscription, and the Free plan applies afterwards.
- The account owner can cancel at any time with Manage billing on the account page, which opens the Stripe Customer Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Payment, tax and invoicing for a charge are handled by Stripe under Stripe's terms. Refund requests are sent to the Provider through Stripe or by email to support@tierguard.dev, and the Provider decides on each request. This does not affect any statutory right you have as a consumer.
- We do not store card numbers; see the Privacy Policy for what we keep.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- send data other than usage metadata, in particular personal data beyond opaque tenant references, accounting records or credentials;
- use Tierguard to monitor accounts or integrations you do not own or have no permission to monitor, or for unlawful activity;
- probe, scan or attempt to penetrate Tierguard's infrastructure, overload it, or bypass plan limits or rate limits by automation or shared accounts;
- use the alert channels to send traffic to targets you do not control.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section.
7. Availability and changes
Tierguard is provided on a best-effort basis; there is no contractual uptime commitment on any plan. We may change, add or remove features, and perform maintenance, with or without notice where needed for security or stability.
8. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- Tierguard is provided "as is", without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement; we do not warrant that alerts or projections are complete, timely or error-free.
- The Provider is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, platform overage charges or business interruption.
- The Provider's total aggregate liability for any claim arising under or in connection with these Terms is capped at the total fees you paid in the three (3) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or EUR 50, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
9. Termination and data deletion
You may stop using Tierguard at any time. The account owner can delete the account in Settings: it asks for the password and the account email. Deletion is immediate and we cannot undo it except by restoring a backup. Deletion is refused while a subscription is live: cancel in Manage billing, and deletion becomes possible once the paid period has ended; if you need it sooner, or cannot cancel, contact support@tierguard.dev. Members can leave an account in Settings. Before deleting, the owner can download a summary of the account as JSON and the usage events as CSV; anything beyond that summary can be requested from support.
Deleted data is removed from the live service at once, but it can persist in the database file until the space is overwritten, and in backups for about 14 days after that, for as long as backups keep running. Database copies made by hand before upgrades or restores are deleted by the operator once the change is confirmed. We keep only what is described in the Privacy Policy, such as records held by Stripe, the operator audit trail and technical logs.
Usage events are deleted automatically after the history period of your plan; the Privacy Policy describes how. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms or where required by law.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. The date at the top of this page shows the latest revision. Changes are announced on this page with the date updated. Continuing to use Tierguard after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Poland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes that cannot be resolved by good-faith negotiation will be referred to the competent courts of the Provider's place of residence in Poland. Consumers in the European Union retain access to the mandatory protections of their country of residence.
